YHVH Entertainment launched a fundraising campaign for the play Burley Man. The campaign will be managed through IndieGoGo, an international crowd funding site. The fundraising announcement follows the recent pre-production announcement of the play.

I’m going to be honest and say that I’m self conscious about my body weight (amongst a few other things), a lot of people are. Why am I so worried that I don’t have a flat tummy like the other girls or like the models in the magazines? I thought that people would love me more, nobody likes a fat kid, I mean those women look so slim, graceful and lithe. Society has painted this picture that skinny or slim women are beautiful and desirable and I was mesmerized by the pretty colours and wanted to be in that painting.

Marissa Alexander Stand your GroundA judge denied Marissa Alexander a new trial this morning in a 2010 shooting that left no one dead or injured, The Florida Times-Union reports.

The Jacksonville native claims she was in fear of her life when she fired a warning shot in the direction of her husband, Rico Gray, during an argument.

Though Gray was neither shot nor injured during the incident, Alexander was charged and convicted on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She unsuccessfully claimed her right to fire the shot under Florida‘s “Stand Your Ground” law. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 11 where she can face a 20-year mandatory sentence.
